    Bashir Bilour's funeral prayers to be held today


    PESHAWAR: The funeral prayers of Awami National Party leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour would be held in the afternoon today, Geo News reported Sunday.

    A suicide bomber on Saturday evening killed nine people including Mr Bilour his personal secretary and a senior police official. His funeral prayers would be held at Colonel Sher Khan Army Stadium at 2:00 PM. He would be laid to rest in Peeri Badshah graveyard.

    A national day of mourning has been announced by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf over the tragedy. The national flag would be flown at half-mast today in the honour of the ANP leader.

    The provincial governments of Punjab , Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber PAkhtunkhwa have also announced day of mourning.

    Haroon Bilour, elder son of the martyred politician, has reached Pakistan to attend last rituals of his father.

    President Asif Ali Zardari, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, Altaf Hussain and others politicians expressed profound grief over the demise of the senior politician.

    Mr Bilour was targeted by a suicide bomber after an ANP public gathering leaving him seriously injured. He was shifted to the Lady Ready Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. 

    SHO Razaq Khan Police Station and personal secretary of the minister had been on the spot.

    Bilour's body was shifted to the residence of his elder brother Ghulam Ahmed Bilour from where it would be taken for funeral prayers and then to the graveyard.

    A large number of party worker and relatives have gathered at the residence of Ghulam Ahmed Bilour.
